Finalizing 2012 installation: Light Up Black Friday (Gardner Christmas Lights)

We have been busy setting up for this year’s display, our 5th year of G-Town Christmas. A few things still to finish up before we Light Up Black Friday! Special thanks to Tim Dorr for the help, and photo below. If you’re ready to see a fantastic display, Tim lights up theirs tonight (Thanksgiving) at the Prairie Village Pool next to Shawnee Mission East High School. Hours are 5:30-Midnight.

What great weather you’ve had for installing the 2012 version of G-Town Christmas. Glad I could be part of it. Look forward to see how it all comes together.

Is this something you do yourself? We saw your display last night and it was fantastic! How can we do something like this??? Is there a company that sets it up? We are intrigued to say the least!! Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by, and your comments Virginia. How did you hear about our display?
Yes this is one of my hobbies so we do everything ourselves. There is a group of about 30 of us from around the Midwest that gather every first weekend in August for 2 days of learning and networking with each other. More info can be found at http://hamplus.org. I’d be happy to show you the “behind-the-scenes” of everything anytime. As far as a company in KC that does it, the only one I know of only does large displays for businesses like the one at Vince & Associates on Metcalf in OP.

This is my first winter in Gardner. The neighnors made sure I knew about Gtown Christmas. My 4 year old granddaughter and I have enjoyed the display many times. She would like to watch you if you take it down or do you leave it up all year?

Jan- Welcome to Gardner, and thanks for the comments. We are glad you and your family have enjoyed the display! I will be taking it down probably next week, depending on weather and availability. I will update this site as well as Facebook when that process starts, and you are more than welcome to come watch. 🙂
